When the Predator finishes with its prey, the Vulture comes in to play. The Vulture is described as a well seasoned Predator, with less overstability and more glide. The Vulture is predictable in wind and a great long range placement driver. Pros will appreciate the shot shaping ability of this driver while less experienced players will find a consistent, predictable flight.
Josh's impressions - The vulture feels like a fairway driver in the hand, but has a little extra beef at speed 10. When I throw it like a fairway driver, it's definitely overstable and likely to be reliably so, even in mild headwinds. On a full power throw, it holds the line for a while and fades reliably. In neutral conditions I haven't been able to overpower it into an anhyzer. If you don't have a huge arm, this can be your reliable distance driver that doesn't get max distance, but has a very reliable flight path. That extra point of speed rating is definitely noticeable from it's 9/5/0/2 counterparts like the Thunderbird or Escape. If you like the Thunderbird/Escape but wish for a small step up in overstability, the Vulture might be the answer. (note - most of my field work is done around 5280 feet of altitude. Expect less stability at lower altitudes)
Here's what the disc can do:
- Expect extra glide whether you're throwing backhand or sidearm, and a consistent fade into your target
- A medium rim gives you more control and excellent hand-feel
- Rip it with brute force to easily manage upwind shots
- Holds an almost perfect line on big throws
